Amrutaa Vibho

Amrutaa is an international student from New Delhi, India. A cadet in the Norwich University Corps of Cadets, she serves as the Executive Officer of Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion with the rank of Cadet First Lieutenant.

A double major in Physics and Mathematics with a minor in Chemistry, she is a graduate of NASA’s Lucy Mission Student Pipeline Accelerator and Competency Enabler program (L'SPACE) and has engaged in extensive interdisciplinary research aimed at learning the skills necessary to improve human spaceflight capabilities.

Over the course of her academic career, Vibho has participated in more than fifteen research projects across organo-metallic chemistry, environmental nanotechnology, high-energy physics and astrophysics, mathematical modelling, high-performance computing, and human health and performance. She has co-authored publications across Norwich University, the University of Vermont, and the NASA–Vermont Space Grant Consortium projects. Her achievements have been recognized through numerous awards, including the University Scholar 4.0 GPA Award received every year, the Ted Marsden Mathematics Award in 2023, the Richard Schultz Fellowship in 2023, and the 2025 Demovick Mathematics Award and Board of Fellows recognition.

Beyond academics, she was the first student selected to serve on the Women Kicking Glass committee celebrating 50 years of women in the Cadet Corps and currently holds leadership roles as President of both the Women Kicking Glass Club and the Norwich University Chapter of the American Chemical Society.

Outside the classroom, she is passionate about endurance sports and drumming. Looking ahead, Vibho aspires to attend graduate school to develop Environmental Control Systems for long-duration human spaceflight missions in extreme environments, with the ultimate goal of becoming a NASA Moon-to-Mars Astronaut.

Amrutaa believes in embracing challenges that test one’s limits while maintaining purpose, resilience, and a commitment to excellence. She believes that perseverance through adversity reveals one’s true strength and that spaceflight is the true testament of humanity's grit, sprit, and teamwork.

Among her most meaningful experiences at Norwich was serving as the Guidon Bearer for 23-H Company—a role that deepened her sense of leadership and pride in the Corps of Cadets. Should she one day fulfill her dream of becoming an astronaut, Vibho hopes to carry the Norwich flag into space as a symbol of the institution that shaped her character and ambition.
