Preliminary Design Review

The objective of the PDR Life Cycle Review (LCR), as defined in NASA Procedure Requirement (NPR) 7120.5, is to evaluate the completeness/consistency of the planning, technical, cost, and schedule baselines developed during Formulation. To assess compliance of the preliminary design with applicable requirements and to determine if the project is sufficiently mature to begin Phase C. The overall maturity state at Key Decision Point (KDP) C is that the cost and schedule are adequate to enable mission success with acceptable risk. Approval of the PDR establishes the basis for proceeding with the final detailed design.
